KICK OFF MEETING FOR THE PROJECT GESP

On December 9th, PEL’s representative has attended the kick-off meeting for the project “Re-imagining the playing field – a gender equality in sport project” in Belgrade, Serbia

The project is financed by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.

During the meeting we had the chance to get to know our partners, to discuss the project development and to agree on the following steps.

The aim of the project is to promote gender equality in sport by addressing imbalances in gender representation and raising awareness about gender inequalities in sport and to support organizations in integrating a gender equality approach into their operations and ensuring that relevant policies are applied across the organization.

Specific objectives of GESP project:

  • To understand and address the barriers to gender equality in sport by collecting insights from female athletes, coaches, referees, and other female experts in the field of sport through interviews and recording the results as a podcast.
  • To develop and implement initiatives to promote gender equality in sport, by organizing workshops for athletes, coaches, referees, and other sport-related professionals on the topics such as equal opportunities and representation, gender-sensitive language and behavior, and the importance of promoting gender equality in sport.
  • To build the capacity of organizations to promote gender equality and inclusiveness in sport through the provision of workshop for organizations, as well the development and distribution of a toolkit for promoting gender equality.
  • To increase public awareness and understanding of gender inequalities in sport through public awareness campaign and outreach activities.
